Introducing Young Adults to Shooting in the UK

The British shooting tradition is steeped in heritage, and passing it down to the next generation ensures its future remains bright. At Carter Outdoor Pursuits, we believe that involving young adults in shooting experiences is not only beneficial for the sport, but also a powerful way to spend meaningful time together.

Introducing teens aged 14 and above to shooting days allows them to develop discipline, respect for wildlife, and an appreciation for the countryside. With the right supervision and guidance, young people can safely enjoy shooting in the UK, gaining both confidence and camaraderie from being part of a wider community.

Occasionally, young g*ns join us on some of our finest shooting estates UK has to offer – whether walking with an experienced mentor, shadowing on a peg, or even participating where appropriate. It’s these moments that stay with them for years to come.

According to BASC guidelines, young people can use shotguns under supervision from the age of 14, provided it’s done safely and lawfully. We always encourage guardians to read up on the legal responsibilities and ensure safety remains the top priority.

At Carter Outdoor Pursuits, we’re proud to see families sharing shooting days together. There’s nothing quite like bonding over a crisp morning in the field, watching the sky and learning the ropes together.

Join our community on Facebook and Instagram, and subscribe to our WhatsApp channel to stay up to date with family-friendly shoot days and more from the field.
